Intentions

I do not make New Years resolutions rather I make New Years intentions. I find that if I label my intentions as goals I have a harder time fulfilling them. Last year I had three intentions:

Lose weight
Go back to College
Potty train Liam

I lost 30 pounds which I gained about 7-8 pounds since Thanksgiving. I have returned back to College and Liam is thankfully potty trained.

For 2009 My New Years Intentions are:

First lose those holiday pounds
Lose another 20-30 pounds this year
Continue with College
Read the D&C
Attend the temple once a month

Last year I publicly shared my goals and I found that by doing so, my intentions were something that I reflected on and checked my progress more regularly. So I share with you blogging world my intentions for 2009.

What a beautiful post! Love the simplicity, and very essence of your intentions, and heart! How inspiring, SIS! I'm quite inspired to chill out on my freakishly GOAL oriented GOALS, and make them more INTENTIONS... and see what happens! Love you my beautiful sissy! Laura Eb

I couldn't agree more with the intentions idea. I love your goals. You'll do great. I am not sure if you remember me or not, but I was really good friends with Tom and Joanna, well the whole family I'd hope. Wishing you the best of luck with your intentions. Tell everyone hello. Hope you don't mind my blog stocking. Feel free to stop by my blog if you'd like. www.michellewnate.blogspot.com , but first you'll have to give me your email address since I am private. Hope all is well. Michelle Warburton Nate

Ditto to what Rachel said. You did great on your '08 "intentions" I'm sure you'll do the same this year as well.

Moana... I always have good intentions too. My number one is to lose about 100 lbs and so far I haven't done nothing yet to help me acheive that.. How did you lose the weight.. You look really good.. I'm so glad that I found you again.. I hate not have contact with people I knew back in the school years.. I'm so blessed to have you in my life.. We need to get together and go to dinner or something some night... You keep up the good work....

Thank You Cindy! You are so sweet! I have been doing Weight Watchers and working out every single day. When I returned back to school in August I became so busy that it has been very hard to workout and monitor my food intake as religiously as I had done before. I have a tendency to eat when I am stressed and SUGAR is my drug of choice. I battle it each day! Weight Watchers has taught me some important food strategies and I don't ever feel deprived. I use the points plan and I look at food like I do money. Oh my heck that donut is worth five points! Heck no I dont want it, I'll eat a sugar free fat free snack pack for 1 point instead! I have made it into a game where I try to eat and get full on as much "free" or low point food as I can. I also make sure I hit all the daily guidelines and get all my necessary nutrients and foods such as my dairy and fruits, veggies, starch, and proteins in. I reward myself with things like a new pair of workout shoes or cute clothes to wear to the gym or really expensive bras. I have never before spent money on me and this is the first time I have been "selfish" and put my needs before anyone elses. I have found that I have more to give to my family, I am happy and that I am getting a handle on my emotional eating. I am obvious passionate about it sorry for the novel! I am glad to have found you as well! You were a great friend to me in my teenage years and I am grateful to reconnect with you again. Much love and friendship sent your way!! Moana
